It’s fantastic for boosting your mental wellbeing as well as getting a break from work or other responsibilities when you’re stuck in the house. To help, we’ve put together some easy to follow (not necessarily easy to finish!) workouts you can follow whenever you like.

Need some inspiration to get some variety into your workouts? Here's something you could try. No dartboard? Roll two dice, open to random pages in a big fat boook (use the last two digits of the page number), cut a pack of playing cards twice and add the two numbers together.

Yes, just 5-minutes, no equipment

It sounds easy doesn't it? 5-minutes? Don't be fooled, this is a thorough core workout. There are just four exercises and two-rounds will take you 5 minutes. See if you can keep up with Helen!

Low Impact Beginners Cardio Workout

Feel Good Cardio, No Equipment (10 minutes)

Without using any equipment at all, this low impact cardio workout gently warms up all of the major muscle groups. It's only ten minutes long and since all it uses is your own bodyweight, you can do it anywhere, anytime.

  • 25 Air Squats
  • 30 Sec Plank Hold
  • 25 Drop Squats
  • 30 Sec Side Plank Hold (left)
  • 25 Broad Jumps
  • 30 Sec Side Plank Hold (right)

Repeat the above for 4 rounds

Day 2 of 5

Set a timer going. Every time you hit a minute do 3 or 5 burpees until all 50 or 100 squats/thrusters are done!

Option 1 - Tough

  • 50 Air Squats but every minute on the minute 3 Burpees

Option 2 - Tougher

  • 100 Air Squats but every minute on the minute 3 Burpees

Option 3 - Toughest!

  • 100 Thrusters (squat followed by overhead press with weight) with any weight you have, but every minute on the minute 5 Burpees

Complete:

  • 20 Lunges (10 each leg)
  • 20 Press Ups or Wall Presses
  • 20 Repeater Knees (10 each leg)
  • 20 Shoulder Taps (10 each side)
  • 20 Mountain Climbers (10 each side)


Now repeat another four times - That’s right - 500 Reps!

Day 4 of 5

Work through 1 exercise every minute, doing 40 seconds work then 20 seconds rest. Try and complete 7 rounds (1 round = all three exercises)

  1. In and Out Squat Jumps
  2. Walk Outs
  3. Burpees OR Squat Jumps

10 Minute Abs

Who doesn’t love to throw a little more ab work into their daily routine? Whether you are buying into society's somewhat misplaced obsession with six pack abs or you are just trying to get your core stronger, to protect your back, improve trunk stability, and move to more advanced exercises, this quick 10 minute core routine will hit your abdominals, lower back, obliques as well as a whole host of smaller muscles know only to those studying anatomy or physiology!

Pilates Abs For A Healthy Back

All of these exercises - particularly together - are great for building well rounded, comprehensive core strength. The abdominal panel, obliques and lower back are all engaged in this 10 minute abs workout and while it's beneficial for a wide range of fitness levels, it's also beginner friendly.
